INDIANA AUDITOR OF STATE CONNIE NASS’ OFFICE RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD FOR FINANCIAL REPORTING

INDIANAPOLIS – Auditor of State Connie Nass is pleased to announce that the her office has again been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Auditor Nass’ office has received the award each of the 6 years she has been in office. Auditor Nass’ office is responsible for creating and maintaining the State’s general ledger system, for closing the State’s books at the end of each fiscal year, and for preparing the State’s financial reports.

In an effort to inform more people of the State’s financial status, Auditor Nass continues to publish the State’s CAFR on her web site (www.in.gov/auditor) each year. Indiana’s CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate clearly its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving government finance professionals in the United States and Canada. Auditor of State Connie Nass, a native of Huntingburg, Indiana, is in her second term of office.
