STATE AUDITOR NASS: "WORKING TOGETHER WITH ENTIRE PLAN, NOT PIECEMEAL, IS BEST WAY TO RESOLVE BUDGET SHORTFALL"

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana State Auditor Connie Nass issued the following statement concerning the Governor's proposed transfer of all outstanding Build Indiana Funds to the general fund:

"Before I can cast a vote at the State Board of Finance on, or even thoroughly analyze, the Governor's proposal to transfer Build Indiana Funds to the general fund, I believe it is important that the Governor share his entire plan of budget cuts and transfers with me, State Treasurer Tim Berry, and the leadership of all four legislative caucuses. To weigh in on these matters in a piecemeal fashion is not the best course of action. Those of us trying to remedy the state's fiscal situation need the full picture. We all want to work together to move Indiana forward. This is a complex and important process that should not be handled in take-it-or-leave-it half-measures."
