Indianapolis-Indiana Auditor of State Connie Nass will give a presentation
on governmental accountability during the National
Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers
Conference in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from August 17-22,
2001.
Auditor Nass is a contributor to the book, "21st
Century Government: Essays in Leadership",
which will be released during the NASACT conference.
Her chapter, which focuses on governmental accountability,
grew out of keynote addresses she has given at numerous
Association of Government Accountants conferences throughout her term as Auditor
of State of Indiana.
"In an age when public and private businesses
are starting to assign goals rather than tasks,
the notion of accountability has come to the forefront
as a personnel and planning issue", declares
Auditor Nass. "By leaving the accomplishment
of a task to each individual entity, government
at all levels can streamline its bureaucracy and
present itself to citizens as a more efficient user
of their money."
Connie Nass was elected in 1998 as Indiana's fifty-third
State Auditor. She is known for demonstrating strong
leadership and effective management while carrying
out her many public and private duties. Mrs. Nass
is a native of Dubois County where she served as
mayor of Huntingburg.
