Indianapolis-Auditor of State Connie Nass will be the keynote speaker
on Saturday, October 20, 2001 at the Indiana Federation
of Business and Professional Women's Annual Fall Conference.
The conference will be held at the French Lick Springs
Resort, in French Lick, Indiana.
Auditor Nass' speech will focus on government accountability,
achievements by women in business and government,
and the current condition of Indiana state government
finances. Her speech will feature excerpts from
the recently-published book, "21st Century
Government: Essays in Leadership", to which
Auditor Nass contributed a chapter on accountability.
BPW Indiana has over 1000 members and meets annually
at two conventions. They provide scholarships each year
to high school seniors, college-aged women, and
women who are returning to college and the work
force. The organization works actively in Hoosier
communities to advocate on behalf of working women.
Connie Nass, a native of Huntingburg, Indiana,
was elected Auditor of State in 1998. Her office
is responsible for keeping the State's official
financial records, paying the State's bills (including
the wages of 40,000 state employees), and disbursing
tax revenues to cities, towns, counties and schools.
