Accounting Manager
Salary Range $60,000 - $65,000 (Actual Rate Depends upon Experience and Skills)
The Office of the Auditor of State of Indiana, Tim Berry, is now accepting resumes for a full-time Accounting / Finance Manager. The Indiana Auditor of State is the elected Chief Financial Officer for the State and is responsible for
- accounting for all the State's funds;
- paying the State's bills;
- paying the State's employees;
- and overseeing and disbursing county, city, town, and school tax distributions.

http://www.in.gov/auditor/ We are looking for an individual who easily multi-tasks in a complex environment with little direction. Must be a good communicator and reliable in all aspects. Ideal candidate will have ideas to coincide with the goals of improving government efficiency, transparency, and customer service.
Position Duties include, but are not limited to, as follows:
- Under general direction of the Finance Director, manage Statewide Financial Accounting Activities
- May Supervise Office of the Auditor of State Financial Accounting Analysts
- Provide Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) support / guidance to State Agencies
- Monitor the Statewide PeopleSoft G/L (identify & resolve issues)
- Subject Matter Expert for PeopleSoft G/L, Reports, Queries, and Nvisions
- Coordinate/perform month-end and year-end closing processes
- Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, Popular Annual Financial Report
- Review/Assign Chart of Accounts values & Maintain electronic database
- Reconcile the Indiana Auditor of State Book of record against the Treasurer of State records
- Review/process Administrative Actions & Budget Committee Actions
- Maintain Accounting Department procedure manual
- Maintain & Update Account Definition / User Guide
- Continue to support Legacy GEAC system payroll G/L interface
Requirements
Applicant should be a CPA with at least 3-5 years of finance / accounting management experience. Consideration will be given to those with a 5 year college degree with an accounting major that are eligible for and planning to take the CPA exam. Advanced Accounting Degree, MBA, or similar a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
- Ability to manage Government Legal / Fund Accounting and Accruals
- PeopleSoft System or similar complex ERP system experience
- Microsoft Project, project management, and/or Six Sigma experience a plus
