Policy on Public Records

This policy sets forth the procedure for making public record requests to the State Auditor pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act, Indiana Code 5-14-3-1 et seq.

The State Auditor requires that all incoming public record requests be in written form. This requirement can be satisfied in four ways:

  1. You may make the request in person at the State Auditor's office (Room 240 State House);
  2. You may mail your request in the U.S. Mail (Indiana Auditor of State, 200 W. Washington St., Room 240 State House Indianapolis, IN 46204-2793);
  3. You may email your request ( bdale@auditor.in.gov ); or
  4. You may fax your request (317-233-2794).

Please include your telephone number on your request.

The charge for copies of public records is ten (10) cents per page. These fees help reimburse the State and its taxpayers for supplies used in providing records and reports. Indiana governmental agencies may not be charged a fee.

Please contact Beth Dale, Deputy Auditor Legal Council (317) 232-3300, if you have any questions about this policy or you would like to request public records.
