Victim Assistance Division
In Indiana, the Office of the Attorney General works diligently to keep criminals in jail, corporations free from corruption, and taxpayers safe. These efforts have led to many success stories that have improved Hoosiers' quality of life.
But unfortunately, crime still occurs, and every crime impacts someone’s life.
The Indiana Constitution guarantees victims of crime fairness, respect and dignity. The Victim Assistance Division of the Attorney General’s Office follows through on that promise. It provides support to those affected directly, and indirectly, by crime in Indiana.
Many times this assistance is provided in the form of information. Explanation of the legal process and what to expect from it is helpful to those unfamiliar with the steps involved in criminal prosecution. In other circumstances, such as domestic violence and abuse, victims of crime need help returning to their normal lives.
