Arts Day brings together hundreds of artists, arts administrators, and arts business owners from across the state to visit with their State Senators and Representatives and inform them about the positive impact of the arts on Hoosier lives, communities, and the state's economy.
Hundreds of Hoosier artists, arts organizations, and arts advocates gathered February 25 in the Rotunda of the Indiana State House for Arts Day 2008.
A centerpiece of the event was the presentation of the Community Arts Leadership Awards. Recipients of the awards were recognized for their contributions to the advancement of the arts, and received a commissioned piece of art in recognition of their work.
In addition, The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) and the Indiana Coalition for the Arts (INCA) announced the results of the annual Creative Industries report released by Americans for the Arts (AFTA). The report noted a significant increase in the the number of arts-related businesses and arts employment in 2007.
