The Indiana Outdoor licensing system allows license retailers to sell an unlimited quantity of all license types without paying a bond or pre-paying for licenses.
  2. Why did you change to a new system?
The Indiana Outdoor system is an efficient way to sell and purchase licenses. License retailers can sell all license types through this electronic system, without paying for a bond or keeping an inventory of licenses on hand.
  3. Which licenses will I be able to sell?
All license types, except lifetime licenses, will be available for sale. For a complete list of licenses, please see Appendix A of the manual.
  4. Will I need a bond?
Bonds were formerly required for selling hunting, trapping and fishing licenses. This is no longer a requirement.
  5. Will I need to pre-pay for licenses?
No. When the system is setup, DNR staff will obtain bank account information that will allow them to debit your account on a weekly basis for licenses sold.
  6. How will I keep track of my sales?
The licensing system has a reporting component to help you keep track of sales. For more information, please see Section 9 of the manual.
  7. Will the traditional license books still be available?
After the licensing system is fully implemented, paper license books will no longer be available.
  8. Will I receive a fee for selling from the new system?
Yes. The agent fee is $0.75 per license sold.
  9. Why are you using standard printer paper for licenses?
Existing licenses issued by DNR are paper-based. Also, it is the most cost-effective method for creating licenses.
  10. Are Indiana Outdoor licenses secure?
Yes. Licenses issued through the Indiana Outdoor licensing system have a unique numeric identifier that can be used by DNR law enforcement for validation.
  11. Why have you chosen to use large (8.5" x 11") laser printers?
Standard-sized printers are less costly and easier to replace than custom or small printers. Also, the use of laser over inkjet printers was preferable, as laser printouts do not bleed.
  12. What supplies will DNR provide for the Indiana Outdoor system?
DNR will provide license agents with the Wyse thin client terminal, 15" flat panel monitor, and dial-up connectivity for accessing the Indiana Outdoor system. Also, DNR will provide a HP Laserjet 1012 printer for printing of licenses. Maintenance supplies such as paper and toner will not be provided.
  13. What if a customer loses or ruins a license?
Customers must contact the DNR customer service center at 877.463.6367, pay one-half of the license fee, as well as sign an affidavit verifying the loss of the original license.
  14. Can I issue multiple licenses in one transaction?
Yes. Multiple licenses can be purchased for a single customer during the same transaction.
  15. Who can view reports?
Users who are setup in the "manager" role have access to the reporting component of the Indiana Outdoor system.
  16. Can my store have more than one "manager" setup in the system?

No. Managers can only be setup by corporate liaisons or by DNR.
  18. How do I know what other retailers are using the system?

As a retail agent, you would be responsible for any and all licenses generated by anyone whom you've given permission to as a clerk, regardless of how they accessed the system.
  22. What if we don't sell any licenses in a month's time? Is there a penalty?
The agreement requires that you sell a certain number of licenses during the year to continue using the equipment supplied by DNR.
  23. Will we need to do any type of daily back-up on the system?
There is no need for you to do a back-up. Data is housed on the DNR server.

  28. Can I sell other services such as additional license copies?
Yes. Feel free offer customers additional services such as additional license copies, cutting of licenses, and laminating of licenses.
