Arnold to lead DOC program; Hunter named DNR Director of Law Enforcement
Start Date: 8/24/2018 All Day
Event Description:

Indiana Department of Corrections Commissioner Rob Carter today announced that Lloyd Arnold will serve as chief operating officer of the department’s Prison Enterprises Network division (PEN Products). PEN Products is a program that equips offenders for successful reentry through meaningful work and career development while operating in a self-sustaining manner.

“Throughout his career, Lloyd has been a committed public servant,” Commissioner Carter said. “We are thrilled he’ll be leading this important DOC program, and we welcome him to the team.”

Arnold most recently served as director of law enforcement for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Prior to serving as DNR’s director of law enforcement, Lloyd Arnold was a state representative for five years and served Hoosiers in Crawford, Dubois, Orange, Perry and Spencer counties. While in office, Arnold was vice chair of the Natural Resource Committee and was a member of the Agriculture, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety, and Elections and Appointments committees. He served in the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard, and has over 10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry and as a small business owner.

“I want to thank Lloyd Arnold for his dedication and service to the DNR Division of Law Enforcement, and I wish him well as he pursues this new opportunity,” DNR Director Cam Clark said.

To fill the vacancy created by Arnold, DNR Director Clark announced that Lt. Col. Steve Hunter will serve as the next director of the DNR Division of Law Enforcement.

“I welcome Steve Hunter to this role, and I look forward to his achievements in his new role with DNR,” Clark added.

Hunter has had an extensive career with DNR Law Enforcement that has spanned more than 31 years. Since 1987, he has served in various roles. He started as a field officer in Hamilton County, then served as District 4 lieutenant from 1997-2006, and was an operations major from 2006-2011. Hunter achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel in 2011 and has served in the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center for the last two and a half years.

“I am excited for this opportunity to serve DNR Law Enforcement in this capacity. It is an honor to be a part of this agency and serve among its great men and women,” Hunter said.

Hunter enjoys squirrel hunting and spending time with his grandson.

Both Arnold and Hunter begin in their new roles next week. Headshots are available by request.
