Independence Day Weekend, O'Bannon Woods State Park |

Event Description:
When: Saturday, July 6th & Sunday, July 7th10:00am - 3:00pm
Where: Hickory Hollow Nature Center at O'Bannon Woods State Park
Watch pioneer demonstrations, including blacksmithing, tomahawk throwing and the operation of an oxen-powered 1850 haypress, during O'Bannon Woods State Park's Independence Day weekend events, July 6-7.
Activities take place at the Hickory Hollow Nature Center from 10am to 3pm
Other activities will include a primitive dunking booth and demonstrations of leather working, weaving, quilting and spinning. Visitors can also see a pioneer home, trappers shed and cooper shop.
The haypress demonstration is at 1 pm Visitors can meet Forest and Gump, the park's short-horned oxen who are trained to work the haypress.
The event is free after paying the regular park gate entrance fee of $7 per in-state vehicle and $9 per out-of-state vehicle.
The next living farmstead and haypress demonstration will be Aug. 3. |
