Mounds State Park is a unique site with important cultural and natural features along a beautiful stretch of the White River. Mounds Fen Nature Preserve is within the State Park and protects a high quality example of upland forests, floodplain forests, and fen wetlands. Prescribed fire has been used to restore this site and we will see its effects. This unique wetland and its flora, along with the surrounding upland, will be discussed by Ecologist Tom Swinford in association with the Red-tail Land Conservancy, a local land trust.
- Wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray.
