UPDATE-Search underway for missing 4 year-old in Carroll County

Event Description:

UPDATE: Saturday 5/25/19-8AM.  Search operations are underway. The water level has fallen a couple of inches overnight. The Tippecanoe County Sherriff's Department has their drone in the air searching areas along the creek. Conservation Officers have a small Jon boat and an airboat on the water searching the area. Sonar is still being used. Utilizing the lights on the airboat, DNR Conservation Officers were able search along areas in Deer Creek until about midnight this morning.

UPDATE-Search underway for missing 4 year-old in Carroll County

Indiana Conservation Officers and the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Water Rescue Team are continuing to search Deer Creek in Delphi for Owen Jones, a four year old boy from the Monticello area. Officers are searching by boat, using side scan sonar, and searching overhead with a drone.

Indiana Conservation Officers are resuming the search for a missing 4 year-old in Deer Creek at Riley Park in Carroll County.  New information will be released as it is made available.

Indiana Conservation Officers are currently searching for a missing 4 year-old child after he was witnessed being swept away in a flooded creek.

At approximately 6 p.m. this evening, Carroll County 911 received a report of a child being swept away in flooded creek at Riley Park in Delphi. 

The initial investigation has revealed that a 4 year-old male was playing near Deer Creek in Riley Park when a witness observed him struggling in the water before being swept away.

Indiana Conservation officers are currently on scene searching by boat and utilizing sonar.  Additional resources are on their way to assist.

The 4 year-old child was last seen wearing a blue sleeveless shirt and blue shorts.

Officers on scene are urging the public to not venture near the water to assist with the search due to the dangerous elevated water levels and current.
