[DNR] Mounds SP to host garlic mustard pull, May 4
Start Date: 5/4/2014Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Date: 5/4/2014
Event Description:
Lend a hand at Mounds State Park on May 4 by helping pull invasive garlic mustard.
The event starts at 1 p.m. and will begin with an orientation at the nature center.

Garlic mustard has become a nuisance at the park, crowding out native wildflowers and preventing tree seedlings from growing.

Park naturalists will report the amount of garlic mustard removed as part of The Stewardship Network’s Garlic Mustard Challenge, a regional effort to remove 300,000 pounds from local natural areas.
Participants should dress for outdoor work and bring gardening gloves. Cool drinks will be provided throughout the afternoon, and participants are welcome to stay as long as they can.

The event is free of charge, though the standard park entrance fees of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle apply.

Mounds State Park ( is at 4306 Mounds Road, Anderson, 46017.
