[DNR] Pokagon SP to host geothermal open house at Trine SRA, May 3
Start Date: 5/3/2014Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Date: 5/3/2014End Time: 1:00 PM
Event Description:
A May 3 open house at Trine State Recreation Area will highlight geothermal heating and cooling technology, with representatives from Steuben County REMC.

The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most activities are at the Wild Turkey Outdoor Shelter.

Trine SRA is hosting the event because the recreation area’s new welcome center is heated and cooled with geothermal technology, said Jaime Walker, director of member services for Steuben County REMC.

“Our Operation Round Up program provided a substantial grant to make the Trine welcome center geothermal system possible,” Walker said. “This open house allows us to showcase the system and spread the word about energy efficiency.”

Trine is managed by nearby Pokagon State Park.

Representatives from Geothermal Sales and Service will discuss their products and how the system works in the warming center. POWER MOVES will discuss rebates and incentives for REMC members.

A light lunch and prize giveaways will be provided by Steuben REMC though its Operation Round Up program. Operation Round Up uses donations from members’ monthly bills to fund community projects.

The open house is open to everyone.

Admission to Trine SRA will be free the day of the open house.

The entrance to Trine SRA is on Feather Valley Road, one-half mile east of County Road 50 West, across from Pokagon State Park, on the east side of Interstate 69.

For more information, call Jaime Walker of Steuben County REMC at (260) 665-3563.
