Endurance athletes of all kinds should mark May 17 on their calendars and plan a trip to Pokagon State Park in Steuben County.
On that day, the park will host the eighth annual Pokagon State Park Triathlon/Duathlon, sponsored by Trifort Triathletes in conjuction with Americamultisport.com, and a 5K benefit run.
Activities begin at 9 a.m., and all events will be staged at the park’s CCC shelter.
Participants will receive a gift bag with a race T-shirt and event-related gear, and can attend post race festivities and a picnic.

The fourth annual Steve Parker/ALS 5K Run/Walk will start at 9:45 a.m. The run/walk honors long-time running and fitness enthusiast Steve Parker, who died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Registration for the run/walk costs $20 and can be done at americamultisport.com.
Registration packet pick-up and advance registration will be Friday, May 16, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the park’s Potawatomi Inn, main lobby. Participants also can register on race day at the CCC Shelter from 7 to 8 a.m. However, participants are encouraged to register in advance online.

On race day, the standard park entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicles or $7 per out-of-state vehicle will apply.
