Autumn Getaway Weekend I (Friday), Patoka Lake

Event Description:

Friday, October 20th (Meet at the modern campground shelter house for all of tonight’s activities.)

5p.m. Selfie Scavenger Hunt starts. Grab a sheet of photos from around the park and a few friends or family members to head out on this adventure. Prizes will be awarded. Hunt must be complete by Sunday at 2p.m.

5-8p.m. Register: Campsite decorating contest, pumpkin carving/decorating contest and cornhole tourney! Cornhole tourney cost is $10/team.
All proceeds support the Patoka Lake non-releasable birds of prey.

5- 7p.m. Pumpkin Wagon – Our staff will be driving around with a wagon full of pumpkins for you to design and decorate for Halloween at your house and also here for the Carving Contest. Pumpkins will be sold for $3 small and $5 large. All proceeds will support the raptor program here at Patoka!

5p.m. Cooking Friendship Stew – Bring your canned vegetables to the modern campground center shelterhouse to add to the stew. Volunteers & Staff will prepare the stew for the 7pm gathering.

7p.m. Friendship Stew – Bring crackers, beverages, bowls & spoons as we dish out the Friendship Stew. Join us in kicking off our annual event to celebrate the autumn season & Halloween. 7:30-8:30p.m. Dutch Oven Demonstration – Join volunteer and Dutch oven chef, Ivy Shawler, as she explains the do’s & don’ts of cooking with cast iron. Learn tips for cleaning and preparing your cast iron cookware, how many briquettes to use & more! Never tried your hand at Dutch oven cooking? Ivy will help you to discover all that you need to get started!
