Learning shooting sports, free
Start Date: 5/17/2017
Event Description:
The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience (Ford ODX) offers the chance for young and old to learn how to shoot targets with archery, crossbow and shotguns under the watchful eye of experts on June 10-11 at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.

There will also be dozens of other outdoor activities to try, hands-on.

And it won’t cost you a penny.

Likely the largest free outdoor event in the state, the Ford ODX was last held in September 2015. That was the sixth annual. Each prior year’s event was also held in September. This year’s date is intentionally closer to the start of the traditional outdoor recreation season. The idea is to give participants plenty of follow-up time to keep doing the activities they liked and develop them as hobbies. The reason for not having the event last year was the heavy schedule of State Parks Centennial activities.

As in previous years, parking, entry and all activities are free to participants of all ages. All equipment is provided. Participants are typically beginners or novices in activities such as fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking and many more.

Organizers request that you register in advance at to participate. This helps them prepare. The website is also the place to learn about the other activities offered, check for updates, and get tips on how to make the most of your Experience.

The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience is presented by Central Indiana Ford Dealers, the DNR, and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation to get more people involved in outdoor recreation.

Don’t miss this chance to discover what could set the stage for the ultimate summer of active outdoor fun. The only cost is your time.
