Morel Mushroom Festival, Brown County State Park

Event Description:
Come on out for an exciting day celebrating those amazing fungi!

9am- 3pm- Forest Floor Jewelry- Artist in Residence, Amy Greely will explore the often overlooked understory of the forest floor. Lichen, fungus, ferns, and wildflowers will be observed on the trails and will serve as inspiration for a series of wearable art pieces to be created, The creation process will be shared with the public via hands-on demonstrations. Stop by the Friends Shelter at the Nature Center anytime between 9am and 3pm! Presented as part of the Arts in the Parks Program.

10am- Forest Floor Hike- As part of our Artist in Residence forest floor jewelry and art program, join us for this leisure 1 hour hike exploring the forest floor and the amazing plants, animals, fungi, and wildflowers that live in this magical world we so often take for granted.

11:30am- Mushroom Round-up!-  This program will be done scavenger hunt style along the Discovery Trail and will give young visitors the chance to find faux Morels. Prizes will be awarded to attendees, meets at Nature Center!  

1pm- Morel Mushroom Sale- Come on over to the Nature Center for our annual mushroom sale and get your hands on some of those tasty treats. All proceed go to the Friends of Brown County State Park .

 2pm- Wild Edibles Hike-  Join mushroom and plant guru David Mow as he takes you on an exciting hike all about the wild edibles that can be found right here in or woods. Starting point for this hike is TBA.

6pm-8pm- You Gotta Eat!- Stop by the Country Store in the Family Campground anytime between 6pm and 8pm for a fun and interactive program. Learn how to tie fishing knots, cast a fishing pole, start a campfire, Cook Morels, and make a S’more! This program is presented as part of the Let’s Camp America campaign.
