Schreck selected as District 8 Conservation Officer of the Year
Start Date: 2/25/2019
Event Description:

Jim Schreck has been selected as the District 8 Conservation Officer of the Year.

Schreck, a 15-year veteran, originally from Corydon, has been assigned to Harrison County since 2003. He also won this award in 2007 and 2014.

Schreck has served in a variety of roles including background investigator, boat accident investigator, cave rescue team member, division spokesperson, field training officer, physical tactics instructor and Taser instructor.

The 10 counties in District 8 are Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Lawrence, Orange, Perry, Scott and Washington.

The district award puts Schreck in the running for the Pitzer Award, which is awarded to the state’s top conservation officer and is selected from the 10 district award winners.

The Pitzer Award is named after Indiana Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer, who was fatally shot while investigating illegal hunting activity on Jan. 1, 1961 in Jay County.
