DNR sets up shop at Indy Boat, Sport and Travel Show, Feb. 17-26
Start Date: 2/14/2017
Event Description:
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will have a strong presence at the Indianapolis Boat, Sport and Travel Show, Feb. 17-26 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The show is presented by Renfro Productions and opens at 3 p.m. Friday.

The DNR's main location is in Tackle Town in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion. The booth is a convenient one-stop shopping opportunity for licenses, state park passes, lake use permits, Outdoor Indiana magazine, and a new State Parks GO! (Get Outside) promotion.

The $79 State Parks GO! package includes an annual entrance pass to Indiana’s state parks and reservoirs, the choice of a DNR campsite rental gift card or a State Park Inns gift card, and a backpack cooler. Sold separately, the items have a $98 value.

Hoosiers age 65 and older can purchase the same package for $59.

Free copies of the DNR’s 2017 Fishing Regulations Guide, 2017 Recreation Guide, and other publications will be available.

On Saturday, Feb. 18 and again on Sunday, Feb. 26, the DNR booth will offer a Birds of Prey program with live raptors from Hardy Lake's Dwight Chamberlain Raptor Center.

On Sunday, Feb. 19 and again on Saturday, Feb. 25, visitors can see a dozen or more native Indiana snakes, and will be able to touch one or two.

On Saturday, Feb. 25, members of the Indiana Conservation Officers K-9 team will be at the show with their k-9 partners. The public will have the opportunity to witness demonstrations of how these dogs are used to detect wildlife, conduct evidence searches and track people.

Staff biologists from the Division of Fish & Wildlife will be on hand throughout the show to answer questions about wildlife habitat development and management, hunting and trapping seasons, and wildlife species information.
