[DNR] Lake Michigan Coastal Project hires special projects coordinator

Event Description
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources Lake Michigan Coastal Program has hired Dorreen Carey as special projects coordinator.

Carey is a 30-year resident of Gary and most recently worked as a storm water and environmental consultant for business and municipalities. Before consulting, she served as environmental director and storm water coordinator for the city of Gary.

Carey will begin work for LMCP on Feb. 18. Her primary responsibility will be to fully develop the Coastal Nonpoint Pollution Control Plan. She will be based out of the Dunes State Park Annex Office.

Carey has served on several environmental advisory committees and boards in northwest Indiana. She also served as the chair of the Indiana Coastal Program Advisory Board and as an executive board member of the Northwest Indiana Quality of Life Council.
