Winter Hike Series: Hike to Kelp Village, Brown County State Park
Start Date: 12/21/2019Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Date: 12/21/2019End Time: 12:30 PM
Event Description:
11am - Meet at the Nature Center as we kick off our Winter Hike Series with a hike to a small village that once existed within the Brown County State Park boundaries. With the holidays coming, we will take a nice visit to this area in search of remnants of Kelp Village, as we imagine what the holidays would have been like in the hills of Brown County over 100 years ago. This hike will meet at the Nature Center before carpooling to the Strahl Lake Parking Area and head along the original road bed towards Kelp Village. We will travel approximately 1.5 miles, in total, on easy terrain. Dress for the weather and bring along your archaeologists' eye as we explore the area in search of ruins.

Advanced registration is not necessary and there is no limit on attendance, so feel free to get your group together and come along for this exciting hike. Dogs are more than welcome to join us as long as they are on a 6 foot leash and get along well with other dogs and humans alike. Please be sure to dress for the weather and wear proper footwear for these hikes.  In extreme weather conditions cancellations may be necessary, but we will go in the snow. Check our website and Facebook for conditions and cancellation information.
