Autumn Getaway Weekend I (Saturday), Patoka Lake

Event Description:
T – tents in Modern Campground Section A, CSH – campground shelterhouse
Awards ceremonies will take place directly following each competition. Winners will be posted at the
Campground Gatehouse on Saturday night.

Saturday, October 21st

8a.m. -11:30a.m. Coffee Cart – Look for our special coffee mobile as it makes its way around the campground. Assorted coffee flavors and hot chocolate will be on sale for $2/ cup. All proceeds from the sales will benefit the Patoka raptor program to pay for food, vet bills and supplies needed for our Bald Eagle, Red-tailed Hawk and Eastern Screech Owl.

REGISTER: 9a.m.- 2:50p.m. for the Campsite Decorating Contest. 9a.m. – 10:50a.m. for the pumpkin carving contest and 9a.m. – 11:45a.m. for the Cornhole tourney. Cornhole tourney cost is $10/team. T

9a.m. -6p.m. Pumpkin Wagon – Pumpkins will be sold for $3 small and $5 large. Proceeds support the raptor program! T

9a.m.-9p.m. Selfie Scavenger Hunt – Grab a sheet of photos from around the park and a few friends or family members to head out on this adventure. Prizes will be awarded. Hunt must be complete by Sunday at 2p.m. T

9 -11a.m. Fall Fun & Crafts – Pumpkin Carving/Decorating Contest -Bring your pumpkin and carving tools or carve 'em up on Friday night and bring ‘em to the tent for judging on Saturday! Pumpkin judging will start at 11a.m. Winners will be announced directly after judging and must be present to win! T
Tie-dyed T-shirts: Bring pre-washed white 100% cotton T-shirts to decorate. T
Foam Fall Crafts: Make a special Fall or Halloween themed decoration while supplies last. $1 - $2/kit. T

12p.m. Cornhole Tournament – There will be separate tourneys for youth and adults. Bring your teammate to compete in this friendly competition. Prizes will be awarded following the tourney. Space is limited to 10 adult teams and 10 youth teams, pre-register early to ensure your spot for just $10/team. T

12p.m. Dutch Oven Registration – For rules & information call the Nature Center (812)685-2447. T

12:30-3p.m. Dutch Oven Cook-Off – 15th annual event. T

1p.m. Monster Mash – Play fall themed games for prizes! T

2p.m. Register your pup for the pet parade and costume contest. Parade starts at 2:30p.m. Pet Parade & Costume Contest – Bring your dogs in costumes to the big tents in campground Section A. A special Grand Marshall will lead the parade! Pet costume contest to follow. Pets must be on a leash! Contest winners will be announced directly following the parade. T

3p.m. Campsite Judging – Judges will visit all registered campsites to select first place winners for three themes: Scariest, Most Original, Best Fall Theme. Prizes will be delivered to your campsite!

3:30p.m. Taste of Patoka – Enjoy the Dutch oven cooking of all varieties from desserts to main dishes along with "Cast Iron Chili". A $2 donation per person is requested to sample the creative dishes and cast your ballot for favored Dutch oven creation. Bring your soup bowl, plates and utensils to sample these dishes. T

4:30p.m. Awards Ceremony for Dutch Oven Competition. T

6-7:30pm Trick or Treat – Campers 12 years of age and under may go around the modern campgrounds. There will be no vehicle traffic in the campground during this time for the safety of your children!

8p.m. Creatures of the Night – See if you can identify common and not so common sounds heard at night. Some may be used as frightful Halloween noises but when you discover what animal makes them, they aren’t so scary after all. We will end the evening with a LIVE creature of the night! NC
