Event Description:

Autumn Camping Weekend 2 at Mississinewa Lake 2017, our 30th year!

Welcome to crafts, events, games, the sweet aroma of campfire smoke, exciting sounds of music, and meeting with friends new and old. Most activities begin at the Miami S.R.A. Modern Campground Interpretive Program Shelter near the water tower. See you there!  **Camp sites are all booked, but day visitors are welcome.**

Friday, October 13

6 p.m.  Shirt and Event Passes. Enter your campsite in our decorating contest! Pre-ordered shirts can be picked up. Purchase $3 event passes for all over age 4.

7 p.m.  Weekend Welcome & Kettle corn. Welcome, meet and greet, and announcements. Kettle corn will be served. Please bring your own bowl.

8 p.m.  Movie Night! Don't forget a blanket as we kick off the weekend with a family-friendly movie at the Inter- pretive Program Shelter.

Saturday, October 14

10 a.m.   Shirt and Pumpkins. Enter our campsite decorating contest & cooking contests and buy your pumpkins from the Friends of the Upper Wabash Interpretive Services for the pumpkin decorating contest! Pre-ordered shirts can be picked up. No program passes necessary, please bring cash to pay for pumpkins, donations and cornhole competition.

11 a.m.  Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Friends of the Upper Wabash Interpretive Services will be selling pumpkins as a fundraiser to support events. After purchasing your pumpkin, begin decorating. Markers and some carving tools provided. Feel free to bring your own pumpkin, too. Priced by size $3 to $6.

12 p.m. Pumpkin Judging Starts

12:30 p.m.  Certificates Awarded. Winners announced for the Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Three categories with first-, second-, and third-place winners for each. Categories will be: scariest, funniest, most creative.

1:30-3:30 p.m. Cornhole Competition and Kids Games. Come to the front playground to enter the competition $5 per adult - kids games free. Cash Prize or camping for adult winners.

4:15 p.m. Pets in Costume. Gather at the campground gatehouse for a photo, then walk through the campground with the trick-or-treat folks to show them off.

4:30 p.m.  Trick-or-Treat. Disguise yourself in your favorite costume. (Nothing gory please.) Adults and their children will travel through the campground. Roads will be closed to vehicle traffic from 4:15 - 5:45 p.m.
 Event ends at 5:30 p.m.

7-10 p.m. Stargazing. Come to the disc golf course to learn about objects in the night sky and look through a telescope with Steve & Debbie Russell of ‘Telescope Clinic.’

8 p.m. Cooking Contest Judging. Bring your campfire creations to the Interpretive Program Shelter to be tasted and judged by your fellow campers $2 entry fee. Votes will be tallied and announced at 9 p.m. Just two divisions: chili, and all other. Campers bring a few bucks for extra voting tickets.

8 p.m.  Music. Enjoy some music while the food tasting is underway.

9 p.m. Awards for Campsite Decorating and Cooking.

We'll award nights of free camping for the top three decorated sites to be used in 2018. Holiday Weekends, Autumn Camping Weekends, cabins and AA sites are excluded. A special trophy awarded to the best campsite decorated with recycled items! Must be registered to win. Winners of cooking contest win a cash prize and certificate at the Interpretive Program Shelter.
