Event Description:
*All fall festivals and events across DNR are being held using the State's COVID-19 guidance and precautions, including social distancing, sanitation procedures, safe food service and masks required where applicable. Weekend festivals and individual activities are always SUBJECT TO CHANGE based on the monitoring and management of COVID-19 in the State.

Friday, October 2nd

8 pm Nocturnal Hurdles – There are many obstacles to overcome in the nighttime forest. Nocturnal animals must use their keen senses to survive. Join us while we talk about some of Indiana’s nocturnal animals and test your senses as we go! Meet at the Campground Shelter across from Wildlife Wander Trail for a moderate ¾ mile hike.

Saturday, October 3rd

12 pm Going Batty! – Discover some fascinating facts about bats! These small, but mighty nocturnal predators play a vital role in our world. Meet at the Camp Store to learn more and make a bat to take home.

1:30 pm Costume Contest – Show off your wicked or whimsical costume during this fun event! Our contest is open to all ages. Bring your 4 legged friends too! Join us at the Amphitheater at the Campground Overflow Parking Lot.
*Note: All participants must wear a mask that covers their nose a mouth. If a costume mask has any openings other than for vision, face masks covering the nose and mouth should be worn underneath.

4 pm – 6 pm Trick-or-Treating! –This event is limited to campers, and cabin guests only (overnight guests.) Proof of overnight lodging for the weekend is required for admission to the campground.
- Any vehicle entering the campground this weekend must have a current hangtag.
- Anyone who does not feel well, or has a cough, cold or fever should not participate as a candy distributor or trick-or-treater.
- High risk individuals should not participate as trick-or-treaters or candy distributors.
- All trick-or-treaters and candy distributors must wear masks that cover the nose and mouth. If a “costume” mask has any openings other than for vision, face masks covering the nose and mouth should be worn underneath.
- All candy or treats distributed must be pre-packaged (no popcorn popped on-site, no cups of drinks, etc.)
- Please plan to distribute the candy directly by hand rather than letting trick-or-treaters reach into a bowl.
- If you are distributing treats, please wash or sanitize your hands often and keep hand sanitizer available. Those who are trick-or-treating should carry it and use it often as well. Gloves are not necessary.
- Candy packaging should be wiped off or left to sit for 24 hours before eating if possible. At a very minimum, wash hands or use sanitizer before and after eating candy.
*Roads through the campgrounds will be closed to motor vehicles during this time in order for children to trick-or-treat safely.

6 pm – 10 pm Campsite Judging – Campsite decorations will be voted on by YOU, our campers! Be sure to pick up your voting ballets from the Campground Gatehouse. During this time campers will be walking around the campground to select our spookiest campsites! Each campsite will be given two ballets to cast their votes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Return your completed ballets to the Campground Gatehouse no later than 10:00 p.m. on Saturday. Free camping will be awarded to the top three campsites! Winners will be posted at our Camp Store on Sunday morning at 10:00 am.

7 pm Cold-Blooded Creatures – Join us at the Camp Store to meet some of our resident reptiles and discover amazing facts about these often misunderstood creatures.

8 pm Calls of the Wild – Have you ever wondered what creatures are calling in the nighttime woods? Explore the world of nocturnal animals and learn to identify them by their calls. Join us at the Campground Shelter across from Wildlife Wander Trail for a short/easy hike.

Sunday, October 4th

10 am Skin and Bones – Join us at the Camp Store to identify animals by what is left behind. We will also have a variety of animal furs and bones for you to identify.
