Important Note: All fall festivals and events across DNR are being held using the State's COVID-19 guidance and precautions, including social distancing, sanitation procedures, safe food service and masks required where applicable. Weekend festivals and individual activities are always SUBJECT TO CHANGE based on the monitoring and management of COVID-19 in the State.

 Wednesday-Friday Public Welcome!

Wednesday, October 28th

1 pm: Colors of Fall Hike. Fall colors are here at the park!  How many colors can you find?  Meet at the campground interpretive area for this family friendly hike. (1 hour)

 Thursday, October 29th

5:30 pm: Soarin' Hawks.Have a beak to nose educational experience with Soarin' Hawks winged ambassadors. Meet at Campground interpretive area to meet different raptors found in Indiana: a hawk, a falcon, an owl, or even an eagle! Come and learn about the important role these birds play in our environment. Also, learn about the Raptor Center and its important role in protecting raptors and the world we share. Don’t forget the camera, blanket or lawn chair!  Donations accepted for this fun event. (1 hour)

 Friday, October 30th

10 am: R is for Rain. Drip, Drop.  Come explore all about rain and make your own rain stick!  Can we get rain to fall inside of a jar?  Come outside the historic Stanley Schoolhouse as we discover and explore all about wetlands during the month of October.  Programs will last about an hour and will contain stories, crafts, and activities perfect for the little one.  Come dressed to be outside!  (1 hour)

 6 pm: Civil War Solider with Kevin Stonerock. Join us for a living history presentation concerning an actual soldier from Indiana, set in 1864 with the battle-weary soldier home on leave from the Union Army.  The program objective is to bring the audience as close as they will ever come to visiting with a real veteran of the War Between the States and to give them a better understanding of the men who wore the blue.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket for this family friendly event outside the historic Stanley Schoolhouse (1 hour)

Overnight Guests ONLY Saturday

9 am-2 pm: Scavenger Hunt. Grab a scavenger hunt sheet from the campground interpretive area for this family friendly scavenger hunt.  Come and go event exploring nature in the fall and even decorations around the campground. 

9 am-Noon: Treat Bag Decorating. Stop by the campground interpretive area to pick up your bag to decorate your very own bag at your campsite to use for trick or treating.  (While supplies last)

 11 am: Entry DEADLINE for Campsite Decoration Contest. Register your campsite at the campground gatehouse “walk-up” window.  Prizes will be awarded. 

 Campground roads are closed to all vehicular traffic between 12:30-3 pm! Vehicles must be parked!

Trick-or-treating will be for campers and other overnight guests only and will be in compliance with any State and local COVID-19 guidelines.  Weekend festivals and individual activities are always SUBJECT TO CHANGE based on the monitoring and management of COVID-19 in the State. 

1-2:30 pm: Campground Trick-or-Treating. Please see the required trick-or-treating handouts with your check-in information or see any bulletin board. 

 3 pm: Costume Parade and Contest. Categories include: Ages 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, 13-16, 17+; Pets; Family group; Mixed group. Meet at the campground interpretive area.  Prizes will be awarded in each category.

4:30-6 pm: Campsite Decoration Contest Judging. Be ready to show off your decorations!  The judges will be coming around at this time to find the best decorated campsites.  The winners will be posted at the campground gate by 7 pm and will be contacted by staff that evening.  Our Assistant Property Manager, Heather is the judge! (Park management reserves the right to removal of inappropriate decorations, please remember this is a family friendly event.)

New this year: Camper's Choice Award, see your ballot with your check-in information.  Votes must be turned into the campground gate house by 6 pm on Saturday! 

Prizes are awarded.  A special thanks to our Campground Store Candid Concessions for their generous prize donations.
