In celebration of Earth Observation Day, part of Earth Science Week, we'll going to do some direct observation of the impacts that a pair of fault lines have had on our local geology. The Mt. Carmel fault zone stretches from Martinsville to Campbellsburg – passing right underneath Monroe Lake. We'll view and discuss the geology of this fault zone and how it's influenced the local flora, as we hike along and between the primary fault and a smaller parallel fault. Be prepared for a 5 to 6 mile off-trail hike over often rugged terrain (yes, there will be hills!). 5 hours (including lunch stop).
