Event Description:

Directions:  From Fort Wayne (I-69 exit 112), take Coldwater Rd (SR 327) north for 7.5 miles to Chapman Rd and turn right (east).  Travel 0.75 miles to the ACRES Office entrance on the right (south) side of the road.  Address is 1802 Chapman Rd., Huntertown, IN 46748.

The Division of Nature Preserves is teaming up with some of our partner organizations and land trusts to hold a series of hikes on nature preserves.  The partner for this hike is ACRES Land Trust.  Hike leaders will be Ben Hess, east central regional ecologist, and ACRES Casey Jones, director of land management.

This nature preserve was dedicated in honor of Tom and Jane Dustin, eminent conservationists who helped pass many of Indiana's most significant pieces of conservation statutes, including the Nature Preserves Act and the Natural and Scenic Rivers Act.  Much of the preserve was originally owned by Tom and Jane Dustin.  The nature preserve consists primarily of high quality upland, ravine, floodplain forest, and steep bluffs along the north bank of Cedar Creek.  Cedar Creek is a state designated Natural, Scenic and Recreational River; one of only three such designated rivers in Indiana.
