Rep. Slager encouraged by record breaking year
STATEHOUSE - Rep. Hal Slager is pleased to announce that 2012 was a record breaking year for economic development in Indiana. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) secured job commitments from companies all over the world. These commitments will create 27,620 new jobs and an additional $6.41 billion in capital investment.
“I am encouraged that Indiana’s economic climate has led to the creation of so many high-quality jobs for our state and its flourishing communities,” said Rep. Slager. “Cultivating an economic environment where Hoosier jobs can prosper is my top priority this session.”
Gov. Daniels created the IEDC in early 2005, and since then the agency has worked with 1,474 companies to locate or grow their business in Indiana. Indiana has received national praise for its competitive business climate and was rated best in the Midwest in 2012 by both Chief Executive magazine and Pollina Corporate.
“From its falling corporate tax rate and recently enacted right-to-work legislation to its overall fiscal stability, these results are proof that companies find Indiana one of the most attractive places to create jobs,” Dan Hasler, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of Indiana Economic Development Corporation said,
“I am excited to continue the work of establishing Indiana as a national economic leader and I look forward to the opportunities this session will present.” said Rep Slager. |
