Entry Description
Anderson – Last night just before 11:30 p.m. Pendleton Trooper Rich Clay was patrolling in Anderson when he saw a Nissan SUV with a headlight out. He stopped the vehicle at 53rd St. and Columbus to let the driver know their headlight was out. After making contact with the driver, Alisha Madewell, he became suspicious.
Pendleton District K-9 Unit Kendrick Donald arrived to assist and did a walk around the Nissan with his partner Murtaugh. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Further investigation found Methamphetamine and the precursors used in the manufacture of Methamphetamine.
Arrested was the driver, Alisha Madewell, age 27 of Anderson. She was charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors to Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Common Nuisance and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with Endangerment, all Class “D” Felonies. She was also charged with Driving While Suspended, Class “A” Misdemeanor.
Also arrested was the passenger, Ashley Ann Baker, age 25 of Middletown. She was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, class “D” Felony and visiting a Common Nuisance, Class “D” Felony. Both were lodged in the Madison County Jail.
Often times Meth Labs are found as a result of an anonymous tip from a neighbor or friend. Anyone with information about illegal drug use may call the Pendleton Post at 1-800-527-4752, or the Indiana State Police Drug Tip Line at 1-800-453-4756. Tips can be made and kept anonymous. The Indiana Meth Investigation System or IMIS, can also take tips on meth labs. Just go to www.meth.in.gov and click on the “Report Suspected Meth Activity” Link.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. |
