State Sen. Ron Grooms (R-Jeffersonville) made the following statement today praising area schools for earning ‘A’ grades in Indiana’s 2011-2012 school year performance review:
STATEHOUSE (Nov. 1, 2012) — “I am very grateful for all the teachers, administrators, parents and students who have demonstrated an impressive commitment to making sure Clark and Floyd County schools are among the best in the state,” Grooms said. “Those schools that received an ‘A’ designation are certainly models for educational excellence, and I look forward to the continued growth not only of these institutions, but of Indiana’s school system as a whole. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.”
The schools include:
• Clarksville Senior High School
• Floyd Central High School
• Hazelwood Middle School
• Highland Hills Middle School
• Maple Elementary School
• Nathaniel Scribner Middle School
• Parkwood Elementary School
• Slate Run Elementary School
• Utica Elementary School
• W E Wilson Elementary
At a State Board of Education meeting yesterday, Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett announced that more than 61 percent of Indiana’s schools received A or B letter grades for the 2011-2012 school year. Additionally, 207 schools received A’s for the first time. For more information about Indiana’s school accountability system, visit www.doe.in.gov/improvement/accountability/f-accountability.
