Entry Description Spring Mill State Park will host its annual “Scarecrow Weekend” in the Pioneer Village, Oct. 13 and 14.
Saturday activities include games, scarecrow building, pumpkin carving and other crafts. A costume and candy parade will form at the campground amphitheater at 3:30 p.m. for the park’s camping guests.
The popular Haunted Village caps off Saturday night from 7:30-9:30 p.m. As darkness falls, spooky shadows and eerie sounds will shroud the village. Staff and volunteers will frighten and amuse young and old alike. Though it is a family-oriented event, the park does not recommend it for children younger than 8. The Haunted Village only happens once a year, so visitors should arrive early and expect long lines. The front gate will begin turning away cars at 8:45 p.m. Visitors not in line by 9:20 p.m. will not be admitted.
The Haunted Village is free every year with help from donations. Visitors should look for the “beggars” as they cross the last bridge.
The fun continues Sunday with more craft programs and pioneer games.
The standard gate fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle will be charged.
For more information, call (812) 849-3534 or email springmillstatepark@dnr.IN.gov.
Spring Mill State Park is at 3333 State Road 60 East, Mitchell, 47446.
