South Side I-65 Lane Closures

 

INDIANAPOLIS – An Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractor plans to restrict traffic lanes on Interstate 65 south of Indianapolis during overnight hours this week.

 

Earth Exploration, Inc. will be taking geotechnical boring samples—obtaining soil and rock information—at various locations, and will restrict traffic lanes according to the following schedule.  However, this schedule is subject to change based on weather and progress.  Drivers in both directions of I-65 should be aware of possible single-lane restrictions between I-465 and Southport Road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

 

Wednesday, October 3:  The right lane of northbound I-65 will be restricted from the Southport Road entrance ramp to the eastbound I-465 exit ramp.  Both ramps will remain open at all times.

 

Thursday, October 4:  The right lane of northbound I-65 will be restricted from the Southport Road entrance ramp to the eastbound I-465 exit ramp.  Both ramps will remain open at all times.  The left lane of southbound I-65 will be restricted between Hannah and Edgewood Avenues.

 

Friday, October 5:  The left lane of northbound I-65 will be restricted between Gray Road and Hannah Avenue.  The right lane of southbound I-65 will be restricted from the eastbound I-465 entrance ramp to Gray Road.

 

A 45 mph work zone speed limit will be enforced during the overnight operation.  Signs and illuminated message boards will be used to direct drivers to open traffic lanes.  Drivers can learn the locations of work zones and highway restrictions before they depart by calling INDOT’s TrafficWise at 1-800-261-ROAD (7623) or view an online map at www.TrafficWise.IN.gov.
