Authors Book Signing and Remarks
Thursday, October 4 - 12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.
The Indiana Historical Bureau Book Shop is hosting three Hoosier authors—Marie Albertson, Lucy Jane King, MD, and Alan D. Schmetzer, MD—on Thursday, October 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Indiana State Library and Historical Building, 315 West Ohio Street in downtown Indianapolis. Two books by these authors will be sold at 20% off list price; authors will talk briefly about their books. Both books are from Hawthorne Publishing, Carmel.
Visit the Indiana Historical Bureau website or call 317-232-2535 to place pre-orders. There will be limited book quantities at the reception. Parking will be available at the Senate Avenue State Parking Facility for a flat fee of $5.00; enter off of New York Street (one way eastbound) just east of West Street. Street parking is also available.
Marie J. Albertson author of Old Librarians Never Die They Jump Out of Airplanes: Adventuring Through the Senior Years in Indiana, earned a Master of Library Science degree at age 60, and retired from the Library Development Office at the Indiana State Library in 2003. She is a popular motivational speaker, encouraging women of older years to pursue their life’s dreams. Marie will speak briefly starting at 1:00 p.m.
Lucy Jane King, MD, co-author of Dr. Edenharter’s Dream, is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry Emerita at Indiana University School of Medicine and a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. She is the author of From Under the Cloud at Seven Steeples, 1878—1885: The Peculiarly Saddened Life of Anna Agnew at the Indiana Hospital for the Insane.
Alan D. Schmetzer, MD, co-author of Dr. Edenharter’s Dream, is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at Indiana University School of Medicine. He was director of Larue Carter Hospital at one time and served on the committee to investigate concerns at Central State Hospital before it closed.
Dr. King and Dr. Schmetzer will speak briefly starting at 12:15 p.m.
All books in the Indiana Historical Bureau Book Shop will be 20% off on October 4. |
