[ISP] Persons of Interest Sought for Monument Defacing
Start Date: 3/9/2012
End Date: 3/9/2012
Entry Description

Indianapolis, IN – It was just over two weeks ago on the evening of Tuesday, February 21st when the Soldiers and Sailors Monument on the circle and the Statehouse were defaced with spray paint.  When people saw the damage to the iconic symbol of Indianapolis on the evening news, many were infuriated by the senselessness of the act.  Now the monument and statehouse have been restored as best as possible but the question still remains: Who was responsible for these acts of vandalism?

You may have the answer to that question.  Please look at these photos and the accompanying video.  If you know the identity of any of these people, please call the Indiana State Police Operations Center at 317-232-8250 and provide your tip.  You may remain anonymous.  You can also directly call the State Capitol Police detective handling this investigation, Det. Sgt. Scott Alexander, at 317-233-0861 to speak with him or leave him a direct message.

As shown in the video, the six people appear to be walking together as a group.  While only one person is shown actively spray painting the private security camera, the time of this act coincides with when the defacing of the monument occurred.  The Indiana State Police would like to speak with each of the six people shown as part of the ongoing investigation.  With your help we can determine who the person or persons are that were responsible for the acts of vandalism to the monument, statehouse and the security camera.

The video clip may be viewed on the Indiana State Police website at this location:
