March 18 - PTAC Industry Day to be held at IU South Bend 
Connecting Business and Industry Leaders with Government Contracting Resources

South Bend — More than 150 Hoosier business and industry leaders will be gathering at Indiana University South Bend on Friday, March 18, to connect with various government contracting resources and key military officials involved in issuing contracts.  The annual PTAC Industry Day, which is sold out, is being hosted by the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) from 8:30am - 4pm in the University Grill on the IU-SB campus, located at 1700 Mishawaka Avenue.

Keynote luncheon speaker at noon will be Captain Jeffrey “J.T.” Elder, commanding officer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center’s Crane Division (NSWC Crane), located in Crane, Indiana.  NSWC Crane provides acquisition engineering, in-service engineering and technical support for sensors, electronics, electronic warfare and special warfare weapons making it the largest source of defense contracts in Indiana. Captain Elder will be introduced by South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

Individuals presenting opening remarks from 8:30am - 9am include: 

Presentations throughout the day will be made by officials from various government procurement agencies as well as companies serving as government contractors and resources for those participating in government contracting.  

Presenters will include representatives from:

  • Indiana Department of Transportation
  • Department of Homeland Security, Customers and Border Protection
  • Defense Logistics Agency, Land and Maritime 
  • Grissom Air Force Base
  • Department of Veterans Affairs
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Purdue University MEP
  • Indiana SBIR/STTR programs
  • Ultra Electronics – USSI
  • Forest Rivers, Inc.

2016 PTAC Industry Day is sponsored in part by NIPSCO and AEP along with event partners which include the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) network, Indiana Office of Defense Development, Indiana Aerospace and Defense Council, State of Indiana, IU-South Bend and the George Rogers Clark and Northeast Indiana chapters of the National Defense Industrial Association (NIDIA).

The Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is a part of theIndiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (OSBE), a state agency existing under the management of Lt. Governor Eric Holcomb’s office.

The mission of PTAC is to generate employment and improve the general economic condition of the state by assisting Indiana companies including those eligible for preferentialconsideration in obtaining and performing under local, state, and federal government contracts.

PTAC provides procurement technical assistance to help businesses sell products or services to the appropriate government agency by offering confidential counseling services and workshops at no cost. The core of the procurement assistance program is counseling and education.
