Indiana’s Jobs for America’s Graduates and AT&T
Team Up to Help Hoosier Students Succeed

INDIANAPOLIS (September 4, 2015) – The Indiana Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program and AT&T are partnering to expand academic support for at-risk students in Lawrenceburg.  AT&T is providing $30,000 in funding to establish a new JAG program at Lawrenceburg High School. This program will be dedicated to reconnecting students academically by helping them overcome barriers to graduation.

“Indiana’s JAG program leads the nation in both size and accomplishments thanks to its encouraged growth by Governor Mike Pence and the support of the General Assembly,” said Steven J. Braun, Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. “AT&T’s funding will enable JAG expansion into the Lawrenceburg community and encourage at-risk students to reach their full potential.”

JAG is a state-based, national non-profit organization that provides students with skills training and mentoring from a JAG Specialist and follow-up counseling after graduation. Over 13,000 students since 2006 have learned core competencies such as critical thinking, team leadership and effective communication that enhance their employability and instill a platform for future educational and vocational success. Last school year, over 93 percent of JAG students graduated high school and many are continuing on to post-secondary education.

Since 2008, AT&T and the AT&T Foundation have provided over $6 million in funding to JAG and its local affiliates. This support is part of AT&T Aspire, AT&T’s $350 million signature education initiative that drives innovation in education to promote student success in school and beyond.

JAG Indiana, the largest affiliate in the nation, is primarily funded through state and federal dollars administered by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Visit www.in.gov/dwd/JAG.htm to learn more about the Indiana JAG program.
