[SOS] Secretary of State Connie Lawson launches voter registration app
Start Date: 9/18/2014 All Day
End Date: 9/18/2014
Entry Description

Hoosiers are encouraged to register using the app for National Voter Registration Day

INDIANAPOLIS (September 18, 2014) –Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson announced a new mobile voter registration app in conjunction with National Voter Registration Day.  The app allows Hoosiers to register to vote, along with many other services, via their smart phone. Hoosiers are encouraged to register to vote using the new app for National Voter Registration Day on September 23, a massive 50-state effort to encourage civic participation.

“The IndianaVoters App is the next phase of this office embracing technology to improve customer service and citizen engagement,” said Secretary Lawson. “I encourage all Hoosiers to take advantage of this new app and check their registration today.”

The new app will allow Hoosiers to register to vote or confirm their voter registration, look up their polling place, get driving directions to their polling location, find out who’s on their ballot, track their absentee ballot application or provisional ballot information and contact local election officials. It is a full service application designed to make voting easy for Hoosiers by making election information accessible from anywhere.

Apple users can access the application via iTunes from a mobile device or tablet by searching “Indiana voters.”  Android users can access the application via their mobile app store by searching “Indiana Voters.”

“Indiana now offers several convenient ways for Hoosiers to get registered or confirm information.  If you cannot download the Indiana Voters app, our customer-friendly is available on any desktop.  If you are not near a computer on National Voter Registration Day, please take advantage of one of the National Voter Registration Day voter registration drives taking place in Indiana,” said Secretary Lawson. “Once Hoosiers get registered, I hope they will learn more about our vote in honor of a vet program so they can cast their ballot in honor of a military member who has affected their life.”

Communities across the country are planning to use September 23, National Voter Registration Day, to increase voter participation this fall. On September 23, several events will take place in Indiana and across the nation to register voters. To view a full list of events, visit the effort’s website,

National Voter Registration Day started in 2012 and is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right—the right to vote. More than 356,000 Americans have been registered to vote since the inaugural National Voter Registration Day.
