[SUPREME] Ten Schools to Celebrate Constitution Day with a Visit from a Supreme Court Justice
Start Date: 9/13/2012 All Day
End Date: 9/13/2012
Entry Description

Ten Indiana schools will get a visit from an Indiana Supreme Court Justice as winners of Courts in the Classroom’s statewide contest in celebration of Constitution Day.

Teachers from across the state were encouraged to briefly describe why they would like an Indiana Supreme Court Justice to visit their classroom.  Recognizing that it is often difficult for teachers with shrinking resources to bring their students to Indianapolis, Chief Justice Brent Dickson and Associate Justices Steven David and Mark Massa volunteered to travel to the various schools on either Wednesday, September 19 or Friday, September 21, 2012.

The ten winning schools were selected from over 40 applicants.  The schools chosen represent a broad range of learning communities and include high schools, junior highs, elementary schools, and an online academy.
The winning teachers and schools are:

Michael Potts Brown County Junior High Nashville, IN
Rebekah Sims and Barb Kelp Brown County High School Special Services Nashville, IN
Bryan Fountain Burris Elementary School Mitchell, IN
Denise Hay Clarks Creek Elementary School Plainfield, IN
Corey Berry Hoosier Academy Virtual School Indianapolis, IN
Chris Cavanaugh Plainfield High School Plainfield, IN
Riley Johnson New Tech Academy Wayne High School Fort Wayne, IN
David Yarde Northcrest Elementary School Fort Wayne, IN
Jamie Rickard Northwest High School Indianapolis, IN
Janice Apple and Martha Nice Throop Elementary School Paoli, IN
