[OUCC] Wedgewood Park Water rate case: Consumer comments invited
Start Date: 9/10/2013 All Day
End Date: 9/10/2013
Entry Description

The Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC) is inviting written comments from Wedgewood Park Water, Inc.’s customers on the utility’s pending rate case.

The OUCC, the state agency representing consumer interests in cases before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), is reviewing the utility’s request and has not yet taken a position in this case. The OUCC is scheduled to complete its review and file testimony with the Commission on October 4, 2013.

Wedgewood Park Water is a privately owned utility with 216 customers in northern St. Joseph County. The utility’s proposed rate increase would raise the monthly water bill for a residential customer using 5,000 gallons from $23.26 to $31.15, and it is also seeking IURC authority to issue up to $102,000 in long-term debt. According to its testimony and exhibits, Wedgewood Park Water says it is seeking the changes due to increased operating and maintenance costs, and to pay for a proposed wholesale water interconnection to the Niles Charter Township water system.

Current rates for Wedgewood Park Water were approved in 2005. An IURC technical evidentiary hearing in this case is scheduled for October 24, 2013 in Indianapolis. While evidentiary hearings are open to the public, participation is typically limited to attorney cross-examination and Commission questioning of technical witnesses who have filed financial or engineering testimony on behalf of the case’s formal parties.

More information on this case, including the utility’s testimony, is available online at www.in.gov/oucc/2748.htm.

Consumers who wish to submit written comments in this case may do so via the OUCC’s Website at www.in.gov/oucc/2361.htm, or by mail, email or fax:
