[ATG] Attorney General's Statement on Indiana Supreme Court argument in Brewington case
Start Date: 9/12/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 9/12/2013
Entry Description

INDIANAPOLIS – Today the Indiana Supreme Court heard oral argument in a criminal appeal case, Daniel Brewington v. State of Indiana.  As lawyer for the State, the Indiana Attorney General’s Office asked the Supreme Court to affirm the decision of the Indiana Court of Appeals which in January upheld Brewington’s convictions for intimidation, obstruction of justice and perjury.  Attorney General Greg Zoeller today issued this statement:

“The State contends the defendant’s right of self-expression does not include the right to threaten violence or harm against a judge or any other person, and we urge the Supreme Court to leave intact the lower court’s ruling and the felony conviction,” Zoeller said.

The Indiana Supreme Court took the case under advisement and will issue its decision at a later date.
