Overnight Restrictions on I-70 in Henry County

HENRY COUNTY – Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) plan to continue overnight lane restrictions this week for pavement repairs on Interstate 70 between State Road 109 (Knightstown Exit 115) and State Road 3 (New Castle Exit 123).

Crews will restrict one lane of eastbound I-70 for paving operations between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. each night.  Westbound I-70 will also have overnight lane restrictions for drainage installation.

Once patching and drainage are complete, paving of intermediate asphalt will begin on westbound I-70.  A new surface layer will then be paved on both directions of the interstate between State Road 3 and State Road 109.

E & B Paving, the INDOT contractor for the $7.7 million project, is expected to complete all work on the 7-mile section of I-70 by November.  All traffic lanes in both directions are included in the contract. All lane restrictions are expected to take place during weeknights and on weekends.

Additional highway work zones and lane restrictions can be expected on I-70 in Hancock and Wayne counties.  For information on INDOT work zones and highway restrictions, go to or call toll-free 800-261-ROAD (7623).

Motorists are urged to practice safe driving habits, especially in work zones. Follow speed limits, maintain safe distances from other vehicles, and avoid all distractions—including cell phones.  The Indiana Work Zone Safety Law sets steep penalties for driving infractions within highway work zones.  INDOT partners with the Indiana State Police to provide increased patrols and promote public safety in work zones.  For more information, go to
