LaPorte – Today, a joint cold case murder investigation by Indiana State Police Detective First Sergeant Al Williamson and LaPorte Police Detective Brett Airy resulted in the arrest of Jason L. Tibbs, 38, LaPorte, IN. Tibbs was arrested during a traffic stop when officers served a LaPorte Circuit Court arrest warrant alleging a single count of murder. He is incarcerated in the LaPorte County Jail, with no bond.

On March 26, 1993, Rayna Rison, 16, LaPorte, IN, was reported missing by her father. Rison’s disappearance received nationwide news coverage including airing on an episode of America’s Most Wanted. On April 27, 1993, her body was found in a pond near Range Road in LaPorte County.

The findings of a subsequent autopsy resulted in Rison’s death being ruled a homicide. The case has remained unsolved for over 20 years. Williamson and Airy have been investigating Rison’s murder for over five years.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact First Sergeant Al Williamson by calling 1-800-552-8917 or Detective Brett Airy at 219-362-9446 (extension 210).
