[R22] Improving the Status of Children
Start Date: 8/19/2013Start Time: 12:00 AM
End Date: 8/19/2013
Entry Description

STATEHOUSE – State Representative Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) will attend the inaugural meeting of the State Commission on Improving the Status of Children on Wednesday, August 21. The meeting will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Conference Room C at the Indiana Government Center South.

Rep. Kubacki was appointed to this 18 member commission in June of this year. The commission includes members from all four legislative caucuses working alongside members of the judicial and executive branches. Rep. Kubacki serves as the Republican representative from the Indiana House.

“I was extremely humbled to have been selected to serve on this historic commission,” said Rep. Kubacki. “I look forward to getting straight to work to expand on the many great steps we have already taken in the General Assembly to keep Hoosier students safe.”

The commission aims to improve the status of children across Indiana by taking an in-depth look at issues concerning vulnerable youth. They will review and make recommendations concerning pending legislation and will also promote information sharing between the key stakeholders in state government. The commission was created through the passage of Senate Enrolled Act 125, to which Rep. Kubacki served as a co-sponsor, during the 2013 legislative session.

“The interim provides an excellent opportunity for legislators to take a more in-depth look at the most pressing issues facing our state, however, protecting our most vulnerable is a responsibility we all share,” said Rep. Kubacki. “I encourage members of our communities to get involved.”
