Arts Commission announces applications now open for Arts IN Education project grants

(Indianapolis, Indiana) – The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that applications are now open for the next round of Arts IN Education grants.

For the second year, teaching artists as well as schools are encouraged to apply. The Arts IN Education grant program is also open to any Indiana pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public, private, parochial, or charter school.

Applications must be submitted through the Indiana Cultural Grants Online (http://indiana.cgweb.org/ ) no later than 4:30 p.m. October 11, 2013. Projects must take place between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014.

Arts IN Education grant information and guidelines are currently available online. Interested applicants should refer to the IAC website www.in.gov/arts/artsineducation.htm for more information.

Applicants may request up to $3,000 for project related costs. Applicants must match dollar for dollar the IAC grant awarded with school funds, contributed funds, in-kind donations, or services. Funding may not replace or supplant existing resources.

Grant dollars available through the Arts In Education program are made possible by the purchase and renewal of the Indiana Celebrate the Arts license plate. For more information about the plate, please visit: www.in.gov/arts/artstrustplate.htm .

Project activities must take place during the scheduled school day and may not fund after-school or summer activities. Projects must also meet a minimum of five (5) Indiana academic standards taking place in calendar year 2014.

Eligible teaching artists must be 18 years of age or older, must have been a resident of Indiana for one year prior to the date of application, and remain a resident of Indiana during the grant period. The teaching artist must not be enrolled in any degree-granting program (undergraduate, graduate and doctorate) as of October 11, 2013. A teaching artist may not apply as part of a collaboration for which another artist is also applying in the same year, and may not apply on behalf of an organization (organizations, other than schools, may not apply).

If there are additional questions, please contact Kristina Davis at: kdavis-smith@iac.in.gov or call 317-232-1279.
