Entry Description
STATEHOUSE (Aug. 7, 2013) — Area roads, bridges and highways will benefit from significant funding increases over the next two years, said State Sen. Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville).

“Reliable roads and bridges open the door for economic growth,” Boots said. “For local businesses to remain competitive with other markets, they must be able to efficiently move their goods.”

In total, local counties are slated to receive the following allocations which represent an increase from current funding levels.

· Boone County: $8,098,567 ($2,047,408 increase)
· Fountain County: $4,877,823 ($1,233,300 increase)
· Montgomery County: $7,098,032 ($1,794,572 increase)
· Parke County: $4,936,026 ($1,248,065 increase)
· Vermillion County: $3,424,016 ($865,694 increase)
· Warren County: $3,641,363 ($920,723 increase)

During the 2013 legislative session, the General Assembly passed the fiscal year 2014-2015 state budget, which increased transportation funding by $210 million per year. This includes $100 million for local units each year.
