Entry Description

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 2, 2013) — Area roads, bridges and highways will be granted significant funding increases over current levels during the next two years, said State Sen. Randy Head (R-Logansport).

“Reliable roads allow for safer travel for Hoosier families and businesses,” Head said. “They also provide the infrastructure we need to keep local businesses competitive. The new funding increases will help strengthen our local communities for years to come.”

Local counties are slated to receive the following allocations over the next two years:

· Carroll County: $5,301,926 ($1,340,576 increase)
· Cass County: $7,267,592 ($1,837,445 increase)
· Fulton County: $5,524,953 ($1,396,949 increase)
· Kosciusko County: $10,417,481 ($2,633,848 increase)
· Miami County: $6,289,420 ($1,590,182 increase)
· Marshall County: $7,678,978 ($1,941,486 increase)

During the 2013 legislative session, the General Assembly passed the fiscal year 2014-2015 state budget, which increased transportation funding by $210 million per year. This includes $100 million for local units each year.
