Indiana State Department of Agriculture

In addition to the items listed below, ISDA Director Gina Sheets will be at the Fairgrounds throughout much of the State Fair, attending livestock shows and other events. Media outlets wishing to do interviews should contact ISDA Director of Communications Robert Ziegler at 317-690-3303.

ISDA Public Event Schedule for Indiana State Fair, Aug. 2-18

 

 

Friday, Aug. 2

6:45 a.m.                              Indiana Pork Producers Ham Breakfast

Gina Sheets will join Governor Mike Pence, Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and others.

Location: State Fairgrounds Hospitality Tent

 

8 a.m.                                    State Fair Opening Ceremony

Gina Sheets will join Governor Mike Pence, Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and others.

Location: The Glass Barn

 

11 a.m.                                                 Habitat for Humanity Ag House

Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann, Indy Habitat CEO Jim Morris and others.

Location: Habitat Build (north side of Fairgrounds near FFA Pavilion)

 

 

Saturday, Aug. 3

10 a.m.                                 World Record Popcorn Ball Unveiling

Wednesday, Aug. 7        Hoosier Homestead Awards Ceremony

10:30 a.m.                           Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann in honoring longtime
Hoosier farm families.

                                Location: Farm Bureau Building

 

Thursday, Aug. 8              Ag Leaders Meeting

2 p.m.                                   Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann in a discussion with Indiana farming and agribusiness leaders about the state’s major Ag issues.
Location: Normandy Barn

 

Friday, Aug. 9                    World’s Largest Drive-Thru Breakfast

Saturday, Aug. 10             Youth Arena Building Dedication & Livestock Event

Monday, Aug. 12              USDA Crop Report

1:30 p.m.                             Gina Sheets will join Purdue School of Agriculture Dean Dr. Jay Akridge and others to discuss the just-released USDA Crop report.
Location: Farm Bureau Banquet Hall

 

Wednesday, Aug. 14      Farm Bureau Old-Fashioned Pancake Breakfast

7:30 a.m.                              Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann at the event.

                                                Location: Main Street, Fairgrounds

9:30 a.m.                              Pathway to Water Quality, 20th Anniversary

Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann at a recognition of this conservation-minded event.

Location: Pathway exhibit, near the Horse Barn on the east side of the Fairgrounds.

10:30 a.m.                           Lt. Governor’s Celebration of Agriculture

Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann and Purdue Dean of Agriculture Dr. Jay Akridge. Awards include the Agrivision Award, the Purdue Women in Agriculture Awards and the winners of the ISDA Photo Contest.

Location: Normandy Barn

1 p.m.                                   River Friendly Farmer Ceremony

Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann at the event to honor conservation-minded Hoosiers.

Location: 4-H Exhibit Hall

 

Thursday, Aug. 15            Indiana Legislative Rural Caucus

10:30 a.m.                           Gina sheets will participate in a discussion with legislator and other rural and community leaders about key issues.

                                                Location: Normandy Barn

 

Friday, Aug. 16                  Savor the Flavor

6 p.m.                                   Gina Sheets will join Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann at the event, a contest involving young Hoosier chefs preparing the food grown by Indiana farmers.

                                                Location: Farm Bureau Building
