[ISP] Convicted Felon Hits Van, Three People Injured

Entry Description

Indianapolis, IN- A convicted felon in possession of a handgun and drugs crashed into a van late this afternoon on the city’s east side while trying to evade a traffic stop.

This afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Indiana State Trooper Wade Heiny attempted to stop a 2004 Chevrolet passenger car WB on I-70 at the 88 mm for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Marchello Kawize Snell, 31, of Indianapolis, refused to stop and sped away exiting NB on Emerson Avenue. The driver turned east onto 30th street and continued to Arlington Avenue where Snell lost control and hit the rear of a 2000 Chevrolet van driven by Mike W. Martin, 43, of Greenwood IN.

Snell was apprehended at the scene and transported to Wishard Hospital with a broken leg.

Martin and his front seat passenger, Anthony J. Griggs, 33, of Indianapolis IN., were transported to Methodist Hospital with the complaint of pain.

East Bound 30th Street between Arlington Avenue and Webster Avenue were closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and the wreckage cleared.
